Hi all
I have to make a decision whether to go for insulfrog or electrofrog double slip. All my points are electrofrog but I've hear horror stories about the wiring involved in using electrofrog double-slips. Please can anybody advise me as to what is required? I cannot find an adequate explanation on the internet and I'm not keen on buying one only to find that it is beyond my ability. It's a DCC layout, if that makes a difference. Thanks Paul |

I don't think it's all that complicated.
Power to each of the outside rails. Frog power as in any other electrofrog, controlled by the point motor switch at the other end. I do an extra bit with mine: one point motor connectes the outside rails to whichever adjacent block it's pointed at.

![]() Presumably, I'll need to use insulated rail joiners on the frog rails? I have been told that PECO supply them with certain link wires already soldered - does that help in my case please? Paul |

Paul: I think the frogs of the slip are already isolated; anything else would cause a permanent short. If they're like the other points, there is a wire attached to the frog and you can solder a feed onto that.
Have you looked at this site? http://www.loystoys.com/peco/75-ef-slips.html ? Loys Toys has a pretty good write up for all aspects of DCC.

Resurrecting this thread I know but Loys Toys is still having a sale with 20% off by the look of it and items are attractive to even have airmailed internationally compared with local pricing.
Thought you may like to know.

With wiring points, especially slip points I would recommend getting yourself a diagram of the rails and their relative polarities and working very slowly and thoroughly.
This is a diagram which basically explains how a double slip needs to be wired. Link to Image >>> http://www.sodigi.com/_borders/Double_Slip_Wireing.jpg And this is the site which explains it. Link to Page >>> http://www.sodigi.com/Peco_Track.htm The pictures, etc are for N scale Code 55 range, but this is essentially similar to the HO/OO scale Code 75 range.

Adding to Martin's excellent advice and helpful links this is a photo of an out of the box double slip and one with the wiring modifications for live frog power routing below. This may be of help.
