The weekend of 14/15th October was the annual Wartime Weekend at the NYM Railway. For the weekend, the whole railway and the town of Pickering are turned back to 1943.
Vintage cars, military vehicles and both civilian and military re-enactors flood the area turning the clock back. Frequent 'Air Raids' send people running for the shelter. Station signs are removed to make it harder for invading forces to find their way. Windows everywhere are covered in blast tape. The focus of the event is to remember the jobs done by the railway workers during the war. The men and women who kept the countries transport system running. I took well over 200 photos across the weekend but I'm posting a few here which I hope capture the flavour of the weekend. The Station at Pickering ![]() ![]()
