Hi.
many will know this, but I think some may find it useful. I am renewing some of the plywood baseboard modules that I haven't yet landscaped -and am moving into the 21st century with foam. Not sure how best to glue together yet. After ages of searching for "Blue foam" suppliers I have found a useful source in the UK. You get a blank look when asking for it at B&Q, Wicks or even the trade material suppliers Jewsons (just tried there!). Doesn't help when you describe it for what it really is: extruded polystyrene with 32kg/cu m density. it's used for construction insulation. DOW industries make it, and one of the easiest trade names to buy it under is "Floormate". A simple way of getting the stuff including delivery is through these guys: http://www.floormate-online.co.uk/ Can some one tell me how to glue this stuff togther so it is a strong bond? (I will be making transportable modules out of it and I don't want them falling apart). I need a good method of bonding it to 4mm plywood, (external skin of the module) as well as itself. Thanks Simon |

Hi Simon,
I would be using liquid nails if I were to use foam. Cheers Shamus |

One of my friends has just bought a load of 2" blue foam for his new Sn3 layout and he obtained it from sheffield Insulations who have depots across the UK. I think he paid around £5 for a 4' x 2' sheet. You can find them on - www.sheffins.co.uk - hope this helps.

Thanks for the link Kaysbloke.
Can you ask your friend which product he used? they sell quite a few. £5 for 4x2 is nice price if the density is right. ![]() Simon |

Simon: I use Lepage's green contact cement. It's the water based or latex or something version.

Thanks again fellas.
Nearest Sheffield insulations branch to me is just down the road in Southhampton so looks like a trip. I'll keep an eye out for Lepage contact cement (didn't get far with that for suppliers using google) but letes see how the liquid nails goes. Simon |
