Default Pre-fab Benchwork?

I'm not a carpenter. Has anyone got experience with Pre-fab layout tables/benchwork? Worth the coin? Any one company better than another? The Mainne Company from Attleboro, MA has caught me eye, still a lot of work, but a good foundation is a good place to start.

Thanks

Jon

I have no experience, but it sounds like a good idea. Without a good sturdy foundation for your layout it would all be for nothing. If you don't feel comfortable building it yourself then this would probably be the way to go.

A friend of mine has just taken delivery of some made to order baseboards.

He reckons that the cost of the timber, plus his own time (calculated at the rate he uses when doing his day job) made it financially worthwhile to get the boards done professionally.

On top of which he avoided the mess factor as he'd have been working indoors to make the boards and the domestic authorities have been known to frown upon collections of sawdust and off-cuts.

The time factor also was behind my order to "Brilliant baseboards" end of last year, but sadly the owner Ray Regan suddenly passed away in December so I never got them. There was certainly high demand for Ray's baseboard kits so I'm guessing quite a few make the same judgement. Rays kits took the hassle away and needed next to no carpentry skills, CNC machining giving the accuracy.
