Default Rewire a Bachman gas mechanical for 8 pin DCC.

Does anyone know how to rewire an old Bachman gas mechanical to 8 pin DCC. I do not know which wires come from the wheels, without taking it apart. Do I need to cut any other wires or brass strip, or cut and reattach to any. I have had a very busy few years, having two eye surgeries, and my wife having one herself. It is good to be back.
