Default Photo Competition Format and Rules - Read before entering (edited - 6th Mar 11)

Firstly the Rules: (Please read these before entering)

-Everyone is Welcome to participate. In fact we are trying to encourage as many members as possible to take part.

-Members can only enter a maximum 2 photos - 1 prototype, and 1 model.

-You are welcome to change your entry at any point up until the close of the competition. Simple click "Edit" at the bottom right of your post and change the photograph.

-Basic Photo Adjustments are allowed, i.e. Brightness/Contrast/Saturation along with cropping out areas around the edges of photographs.

-Advanced editing is NOT permitted. This includes splicing photographs, warping software, adding extra parts to the picture (eg. trains, trees etc.)

-Each competition has a theme specified in its thread. Photos that do not match the theme will be withdrawn, however members are welcome to repost a new photo in the same competition that matches the theme.

-All threads relating to the two month competition are indexed in that competitions sticky thread (found at the top of the thread list in the Photocompetition forum)

-Anyone posting work that is not their own will be DISQUALIFIED and will not be permitted to enter that months competition again. You will however be alowed to enter your own work in the next competition.

-Lastly, the General Rules of the forum apply, anyone entering offensive or other such work will be reported, though I doubt this will be an issue.

If I have missed anything, or members have any queries, feel free to post in this thread.
---------------------------------------------------------------------

And the Competition Format [Edit - 6th Mar 11]:

There will be a theme for each pair of months, and for this theme, there will be three votes (yes three).
There will be two normal photocomps - so anyone can enter a photo of a Prototype and/or a model just like it was before, and there will be a vote for each at the end of the two months. Both halves of the competition will run simultaneously over the two months, so you will be able to enter a prototype or model or both picture(s) at any point you wish up until the competition is announced closed.
The votes for this will not be for the standard of the photograph, but for the scene itself. This will therefore open the competition up to anyone who have an interesting scene, but not a powerful camera to take a photo of it.

Here comes the extra bit. Those people who have entered two photographs in a competition (one of a Prototype and one of a Model) will be automatically entered into the combined competition. At the end of two months there will also be a vote, where people will be asked to vote for one person who you think took the best two photo's overall. This will test be a test of both photography skills and an eye for detail.

With a bit of luck this will increase the number of entrants to the competion and open it up to everyone.

[Edit - 6th Mar 11]:

Prizes:
Though there is no material prizes to the competition, as the competitions are a fun way of showing off your railway (model or real one nearby), the winning photographs for each competition will be hosted in the AMR gallery. This will mean they are preservered for everyone to see and easily viewable by just clicking "Gallery" on any AMR page.
So the prize for winning? to have your pictures hosted in the gallery.
