Default Identify this??

I hope someone can assist with identifying this. It has a spring in it, so I assume it held a candle with a chimney. I'm looking for information regarding whether this object has anything to do with railroads? Thank you and have a good day.

It looks like an oil lamp (glass missing) hard to say if has anything to do with "rails" world (I believe not)
Could you put a "side" picture?

Most railway companies took great pride in adding their name, or at least their initials, to anything that could be polished. Does the lamp have any markings that might offer a clue as to its origins?
