Thumbs up Re: The "Bear Creek News Gazette"

Waldbahner, . . . the cars look great ! Good to see you back here again. I like the idea of the car bodies on a pair of the logging disconnects. Bright idea !

Many thanks =)

I got this idea from Lennart Elks homepage some years ago when I was building my crew car, that original used to ride on disconnects too. Later I rebuild the crew car with own trucks.

Using the disconnects as trucks spares additional trucks to build and wheelsets in this scale are not cheap if you nead 12 of them to make new cars =)

For 2012, I've several new ideas in mind :

1. Finishing the Shay
2. Building a new cab for the Forney and some improvment also
3. Building a second coach or combine
4. Building the tank car
5. Finishing the big water tower for out club layout
6. Looking for a place to set up my own layout (okay, this is more hypothetically... But dreaming about this is okay... ;-) )

Let's see what will happend in the end.

Cheers, Gerd

It might happen within the next one or two weeks.

Steam engine and boiler are installed, only plumbing and fittings are missing as well as the fire door and fron boiler support. I guess next week I'll go out to steam her up for the very first time.

Most details are shown on my website, now avaiable at www.gerds-shay.de except for the last days progress. Maybe I'll add the new stuff the next days. Most spare time is usd to get the loco into running condition.

A video of the steam engine running on air is hosted at YouTube.

Hi Gerd and it's great to hear from you again after 9 months away from the site.

I watched your YouTube footage and it seems to work fine and its great to see that your little peeps are still overseeing everything.

I look forward to more progress.

Doug.

Hi Doug,

yesterday was her maiden run out in the back yard. The Shay runs great. Sure, I found some leaks and problems with a few things here and there. But no big problems at all and I look forward to get the issues fixed within the next week to get her ready for the second steam up.
