Default evidence wanted!

Hi All.My preserved branchline 'LAINTEN' is in need of storage space for stock awaiting restoration. Can anyone give me prototypical evidence of storage track that is not connected to the permanent way. I have a large crane working the yard so I would envisage lifting a wagon on to the working track once the 'restoration' is finished. Possible you think? All suggestions gratefully received.

Although I don't have photographic evidence, I do remember whilst working in Ireland in the late 70s/early 80s where the connections to sidings were severed leaving wagons behind to rot. One was on the Mallow-Killarney line and the other was on the Dublin -Galway line.

If you look up http://www.departmentals.com and be patient, there are thousands of photos on that site, but in particular type in '70220' in the search box and you should see a photo of a burnt out van with vegetation growing through it on a severed siding! Also type in '975600' and you'll get an ex Southern emu car on isolated track in Derby as a cleaners store!!!

Good Luck!!!

Dave

Thanks Dave. I did actually find some prototypes that existed. I incorporated it in my layout and then 6 months later changed to G scale in the Garden.!

They are interesting sites though!
