Default My first trees

As my wife asked me to make her a little landscape with trees for her porcelain figures so I was allowed to work in the living room and used ths opportunity do make some trees for myself. I don't have many for me but it is a beginning.
Here the pics:

Looks good!

Now get your lumberjacks out there to cut 'em all down.

Don't listen to him, trees were made to grow tall and strong.

Very nice they are too.

Nice variety too, looks much better than a stand of identical trees.

A few photos of trees for little update.

And here come the pine trees.

A bit closer

I'm sure I won't buy trees anymore as I can have more of them by making them myself instead of buying.

Those are looking really nice! Good bark detail.

Regarding store bought trees vs homemade - some people put the store bought up front because they look better - but honestly, yours look as good as any others I've seen.

What are your pine tree trunks made of? I've used balsa which produces really nice bark - but they are incredibly fragile and I'm always snapping them in two when I reach across the layout. But I found that they were easy to glue back together with white glue and the new joint was stronger than the rest of the tree.

Wow, those trees are really beautiful. Very life like. You've got every reason to be proud of your work.

The trees are made like described here:
http://images.google.de/imgres?imgur...26tbs%3Disch:1

The only difference between the method shown in the link is, that I didn't taper the top of the dowel and for the bark texture I used acrylic filler from tube applied with a brush. You know the silicon-like filler wich can be painted after hardening.
Here the forest is growing. I also made some trees with another green to vary in colors to give a more life-like aspect.

Here you can see better the difference between the colors.
