WoW! the glass changes the look of this whole thing! this looks like an exhibition layout now, and I'm sure you will be taking this work of art to some of them. Sure your dad is very happy and proud.

It's not my dad's layout any more. It belongs to a friend of his, so it won't be making any public appearances.

One last bit of construction is turning the wooden template for the glass into a support for the glass during transport. This will sit on top of the metal supports, with the glass bolted loosely on top, separated by the small blue pads currently stuck to the glass.

The railway was delivered to its owner today, and made the two hour drive and up a staircase without damage. I was a little paranoid transporting the glass horizontally, but the wooden support did its job. So perhaps that's the end of the story for another 33 years?

So to finish the thread, here's a picture at the start of the project, before any work was done, and at the end, just before delivery.
