I subscribe to TimberTimes, a quarterly logging magazine
TimberTimes
I recommend it for it's articles and early photographs.

Two of the books I have bought from them-
In Search of Steam Donkeys
A must for the steam donkey fan and model builder. It has good photos and plans of a large range of different machines.

A Logger's Lexicon

THE logger's dictonary. Co-authored by the late John T. Labbe, widely recognised as one of the leading experts on logging and logging history.

From Oso Publishing
Logging Railraods in Skagit County
A great read if you want ideas on different logging companies
the Climax locomotive
The complete book on the climax locomotive
Simpson Timber Company
If you like logging railroads, early to modern this book has it all. It's the history of the Simpson Timber Company (which still runs today) from it's early days up to recent times. Great colour photos of Dynamic brake equipped SW1200s, an SW900 and Alco S-4 on log trains.
