Default How to ballast points?

Hi guys now find myself at the stage of ballasting turnout/points whats the do"s and don"ts please thank you inadvance as wlways .mike always looking on the bright side of when out ofthe dog house

Default How to ballast points?

Hi Fatso, I start by lubing all moving parts with a silicon spray then spread the sand or whatever you use as normal ,give the whole area a spray of wet water then drip some watered down white glue over the point making sure you get it in all ballat and let it dry over night.
Make sure all flangeways are clear and there are no grains of sand in any of the moving parts.

Just ballast firs set of turnout time wll tell if i have killed it or not .mike probaly killing all my turnouts while looking on the bright side of life

It also helps to move the points back and forth as it dries. Also as with the regular track, running a track back and forth by hand ensures clearance, Clarence.
