Default HOn30 Porter progress

Quote:
Nice looking Porter Rich, was it a resin casting you started with. Looks great.
Yep. It is a Railway Recollections resin casting. I think there were about 30 pieces total. The engineering on the parts was good, and the castings okay, but IMHO could have been a tad better. The parts had some bubbles that needed filled in in P.I.T.A. spots.

Overall though I would give the Kit 4 out of 5 for quality.

And thanks

Rich

I was busy this morning and part of the afternoon. I still have to do the grabs on the back of the cab, and the whistle, but I am soon ready for paint prep.

Looking even better now Rich, these details bring it to life, the pumps look fantastic. Where did you get the headlight?

It's a Cary Locomotive Works casting of a Lima Arc Type Lamp. I got it at a Hobby shop near my father's place. Try www.bowser-trains.com

No pumps, just tanks. I squirted on the base coat of paint tonight. Tomorrow I will be attatching everything and painting the bell and whistle. It won't be long now.

Well, there it is. I will probably screw with it a bunch more before I am completely satisfied with the weathering. And I want to grab an engineer for her. The pictures I took all came out like crap because of the overcast today. Lovely father's day huh?

Very nice job Rich!!
I like the chain detail, nice touch.
The funny thing.....I have been following your progress with this and I just now noticed it was HOn30 and not On30. Very cool!
