That's another plus for On30. It's a gauge where tight radius curves are not only possible, but perfectly prototypical.

They had the cylinders/drive shaft on the left side.

It was stated earlier on that the n30 guys dont take them selves as seriously, couldnt agree more, I build and run trains for the fun of it not to be told I missed a rivet on the left side! Although uk based I struggle to fit into the british outline standard guage as I cant tell one blue diesel from another let alone tell you what class it is.

Here on the RJR branch line the owners buy the engine that does the job and we paint them to be eye catching not to confirm. Yes Im in my own little world but the I enjoy the company and just to be a bit more different i do it in the garden

Thanks, guys - didn't think to look up Wikipedia

Neat idea decoupling the steam pipes from the drive gear but pretty ugly SoB's (from the right side, anyhow!!)

From Wikipedia, "Four of the Shays were left handed, all built for the Octaviano B. Cabrera Co."

Keith, rivet is sound that comes from a frog!
......The slimey green ones, not the turnouts.

HOn30 is cute. On30 is cute and fun. small scale NG guys always have my deepest admiration for achiveing some great results. well done chaps! For me, I couldn't get the "electric mice" to run reliably when I was modelling 009.
