Hi all,
I have just acquired 'Esselleté' from Bob Hughes (Blackcloud) and it has a new life in East Anglia. ![]() Esselleté (pronounced S L T, as in Single Line Terminus) is an 'N' Gauge micro layout 18.5" x 6.5" depicting a French single line terminus served by a 'Picasso' railcar. No power is required as the DelPrado railcar is operated on a horizontal funicular principle using fishing line!!! It has already had one exhibition in Norwich and as 'Lawndale RR' continues to give me grief over scenics (nothing sticks to the baseboard) Esselleté may well take the second layout place. Dave |

Somebody is missing the point of microlayouts here.

It's like bonsai; water it and fertilize and you eventually can get a respectable tree.

Jack & David,
The idea of microlayouts may seem alien to you both, especially when it appears that Australian modellers have the size of a sheep farm to model in!! Have a look at the hundreds of microlayouts in http://www.carendt.com Dave |

Carl's site was the first one I visited when we got the internet at home.
Essellete would actually be impossible to extend because the fishing line which moves the railcar is firmly attached to the train and routed through the baseboard ends where it loops around the back to be pulled by hand - Digital Control Blackcloud Railways style! The use of an additional off stage area would be pointless because of the difficulties in exchanging stock. I am currently planning a new fishing line powered layout where the fishing line will be attached to the stock by small magnets, thus enabling some variety by exchanging locos off stage. Further details here. |
